The Gottman approach/method was developed by Doctors John and Julie Gottman. The Gottman’s are pioneers in couples therapy with over 50 years of research backing up the efficacy of The Gottman Method. This therapy is structured, providing assessments of the couple to determine couple’s communication with skills and wellness tools that build empathy and encourage more affection, intimacy and reduce verbal conflict. Clients are given homework to continuously work on the relationship.
I have met with couples that were ready to separate by the time they attended a counselling session and they were able to move past their barriers, improve communication, connection and come out of the sessions with a better understanding of their partner.
